It is my pleasure to inform to our parents and all well-wishers that the KIST Medical College (KISTMC) was established in 2006 AD. KISTMC has been able to implement in practice the excellent curriculum of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) to which the college is affiliated. To practice this partially problem-oriented, integrated and community based curriculum was a daunting task for the management, faculties and students. However, because of commitment and dedication from all concerned, the course have been successfully completed as per our calendar of operations, despite many unforeseen and unpredictable hurdles.
The college is unique among institutions in the country to offer a Medical Humanities module and counseling of students along with their parents or local guardians which has been widely acclaimed nationally and internationally. Apart from all theory and practical classes being conducted as per schedule, regular internal assessment and conduction of correlation seminars has been one of the milestones of our program.
In the clinical side, the hospital is running smoothly under the able leadership of hospital director Prof. Dr. Suraj Bajracharya. I am also happy to inform that the college has a dedicated and committed team of clinical coordinators: Prof.Dr.Kishor Singh Basnet (Basic Sciences Coordinator), Dr Suraj Bajracharya (Clinical Coordinaotr) and Dr Rosha Shrestha (BDS Coordinator) without their dedication it would have been almost impossible to run the adacdemic programs/classes so smoothly.
As KIST is progressing to a greater height, the challenges are bigger and greater day by day. However, I have confidence that the management, faculty team, nursing and other staff who have trust in quality medical education and quality health care will overcome these challenges unitedly.
